Oh Helga, so complex.

Helga’s pretty much the reason why I love Hey Arnold so much today! Like the comment above said, she’s such a complex character. She’s not mean just for the sake of it, her home life sucks! Her parents favour her sister over her, her mom’s an alcoholic (seriously, she was), her dad’s a prick at many times, not to mention constantly calling Helga Olga! And hell Olga doesn’t even really do much to help the situation. She says she loves Helga but how hard is it to see that your parents favour you over your sibling?! And because of this you can sorta see why Helga was so obsessed with Arnold. Personally from a realistic perspective you can see that she’s pretty obsessive and a bit too young for love, but it’s amazing how even I can believe that this 9 year old actually has real feelings for this kid! And hell Arnold’s a good kid! He really is the only person who showed Helga any attention! And honestly while it does seem like a love at first site thing, it could of been just a crush at first and through time really developed into something more. And it would make sense in her case with Arnold. He’s nice, helpful, down to earth, open-minded, how many 9 year olds are like him?
Well done with my discussion of that for today.
